The economic realities across the nations may be difficult, but the child of God is not without divine provision. Government policies may change, currencies may fluctuate, businesses may face pressure, and the cost of living may rise, but God has not surrendered the care of His people to the economic systems of this world.

Your life does not ultimately depend on governmental policies but on divine prophecies.

This does not mean that a Christian should ignore economic realities or refuse to make wise financial decisions. It means that the economy must never become bigger than your revelation of God. God is still your Source, the Holy Spirit is still your Advantage, and the principles of the Kingdom remain effective in every generation.

God Wants You to Thrive

To thrive means to prosper, flourish, blossom, grow, advance, increase, become fruitful and succeed in what God has called you to do. Thriving does not mean that there will be no opposition. It means that the power of God enables you to advance despite the opposition.

Some plants thrive in conditions in which other plants cannot survive. In the same way, God can cause His people to flourish even when the surrounding economic conditions are unfavourable.

The Bible says:

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”
— Ephesians 3:20, KJV

There is a thriving power that God releases into the life of a believer. It is the power to rise, flourish, prosper, break through opposition and become everything God ordained you to become.

Your life should become a definition of what it means to thrive.

However, you must have specific expectations. If you do not ask specifically, you cannot expect a specific ministration. What are the definite areas in which you need God’s intervention? What financial doors are you trusting Him to open? What wisdom, relationships, opportunities, skills or resources do you require to fulfil your assignment?

Take those expectations before God in faith.

Your Revelation of God Must Be Bigger Than the Challenge

God usually begins His people with a revelation of Himself. He does not begin by showing them the size of their lack, the strength of their enemies or the impossibility of their circumstances. He gives them a revelation of who He is.

You cannot see yourself correctly until you see God correctly.

When the twelve spies returned from searching the land of Canaan, they had seen the same land, the same opportunities and the same giants. Yet they did not interpret what they saw in the same way.

“And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.”
— Numbers 13:30, KJV

The other spies responded differently:

“But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”
— Numbers 13:31, KJV

The difference was not in the circumstances; the difference was in their inner revelation.

Caleb had a revelation of God that was bigger than the giants. The others had allowed the giants to become bigger than their revelation of God.

Do not allow the price tag attached to your God-given assignment to frighten you out of destiny. Responsible planning is necessary, but never allow the size of the financial requirement to become bigger than God in your heart.

In thriving with God, the majority does not carry the vote. What matters is what God has said.

Understand the True Meaning of Poverty

Poverty is deeper than not having enough cash. The spirit of poverty works to deprive a person of whatever is required to complete his or her God-given assignment on the earth.

Therefore, poverty can manifest as the lack, shortage or insufficiency of anything necessary to fulfil your divine purpose. It may be a shortage of:

• Money
• Wisdom
• Knowledge
• Health
• Opportunity
• Access
• Anointing
• Relationships
• The right people
• The right information

Your immediate problem may not always be money. Sometimes what you need most is a supply of wisdom. You can be anointed and yet make financially foolish decisions. You can receive more money and still lose it if the character, discipline and structure required to preserve it have not been developed.

The Bible says:

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:19, KJV

Notice that the scripture says God will supply all your need. We must not reduce the supply of God to cash alone. God can supply wisdom, strength, favour, access, relationships, ideas, opportunities and every other resource required for the completion of His assignment.

Money May Not Be Your First Problem

Many people say, “I need money to start my business,” when money is not necessarily the first thing the business needs.

What may be needed first is:

• A clear vision
• Proper planning
• Accurate information
• Financial discipline
• Trustworthiness
• A viable business model
• The right relationships
• Evidence that the idea can work

If a genuine business idea has come from God, the God who gave the vision has also made provision for its fulfilment.

“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
— Deuteronomy 8:18, KJV

Do not make borrowing your first business strategy. Loans may have a legitimate place, but do not borrow simply because someone has made money available. Money received without vision, planning, information and discipline can become bondage.

Before looking for capital, build the person. Develop the vision. Create value. Establish the actual funding gap. Then determine the most appropriate source of finance.

Where possible, begin leanly. Start from home if the nature of the business permits it. Use personal savings responsibly. Keep proper records. Separate business money from personal money. Build something that demonstrates that your idea can work.

Cut unnecessary costs before increasing debt.

Learn the Seven Essential Functions of Money

You must learn how to:

1. Get money.
2. Keep money.
3. Increase or multiply money.
4. Perpetuate money into another generation.
5. Give money.
6. Use money.
7. Spend money.

Many people put spending at the top of the list. They mentally spend money that they have not yet received. They increase their lifestyle whenever their income increases and leave nothing available for saving, investment, multiplication or Kingdom purpose.

Anything you cannot presently handle directly, be willing to do without it.

Do not live above your true financial level. In fact, do not consume everything that your present level can afford. Live sufficiently below your means so that a meaningful portion of your income can be preserved, invested and multiplied.

Business turnover is not personal income. If you own a business, put yourself on a salary. Do not treat every amount that enters the business account as money available for personal spending.

Revenue is not profit. Fast-growing income must be placed under financial structure before it outruns your financial maturity.

Kingdom wealth is built; it is not gambled into existence.

Wealth Must Serve God’s Purpose

There is nothing noble or holy about lacking the means to accomplish God’s purpose for your life. God sent you into the world with an assignment, and there is a definite provision connected to that assignment.

However, wealth must never replace God.

Materialism is not simply possessing material things. Materialism is attempting to use material things to meet needs that God alone was designed to meet.

A house cannot give you identity. A car cannot determine your worth. Clothes cannot heal your soul. Your spouse must not be turned into your god or ultimate source. God alone must occupy the place that belongs to Him.

God gives wealth for three important reasons:

1. To fulfil your divine and Kingdom assignment.
2. To meet your legitimate earthly obligations.
3. For personal enjoyment within godly boundaries.

Personal enjoyment must not consume everything. Put a cap on what you consume so that your resources can serve a purpose greater than yourself.

Kingdom wealth is wealth acquired under God, through godly principles and for God’s purpose.

The Holy Spirit Is Your Advantage in the Marketplace

Do not leave the Holy Spirit in the church building when you go into the marketplace. Bring Him into your business, career, negotiations, investments and professional decisions.

Ask the Holy Spirit what to offer. Ask Him what opportunity to pursue, what price to accept, what partnership to enter and what investment to avoid. Do not allow another person’s figures, appearance or impressive presentation to silence the witness of the Holy Spirit within you.

You are not called to compete with occult or demonic systems in the energy of the flesh. Function by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Profit by the manifestation of the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit can give you insight that is unavailable through ordinary analysis. He can guide you away from a fraudulent investment, show you an underserved market, connect you with the right person and give you wisdom during a difficult negotiation.

God is raising a Daniel and Joseph company: believers who are professionally excellent, technically competent and sound in the Holy Spirit. They will provide solutions to businesses, institutions and nations through the combination of excellence and prophetic insight.

Build Value, Skill, Trust and Structure

Whether you are building a conventional business, developing a professional career or creating wealth through social media, you must treat it seriously.

Followers are not the same thing as wealth, and virality is not a business model.

Ask yourself:

• What has God put in my hand?
• What natural and professional skills do I possess?
• What problem can I solve?
• Who needs the solution I can provide?
• What value am I creating?
• Is my name trusted?
• Am I building transferable skills?
• If my present platform disappeared, what would remain?

Your name is an asset. Do not build a respectable public brand while behaving privately as though your name does not matter. Integrity, reliability and trustworthiness are forms of financial capital.

Build value before aggressive monetisation. Build trust before continually asking people to buy from you. Move from being merely a consumer to becoming a producer.

Turn some of your consumption time into productive time.

Character Must Sustain Access

There is a place connected to your wealth, and there are people connected to your wealth. You must know how to behave in that place and around those people.

Access does not automatically give you entitlement.

When God brings you into corridors of wealth, power or influence, you must understand the behaviours that will keep you there. Do not allow familiarity to destroy your respect for boundaries.

Character is what keeps you where charisma has brought you.

Be careful how you leave jobs, relationships, partnerships and assignments. When you are going out of a door, do not bang it. You may later discover that you left something behind or that the person you dishonoured is connected to another door in your future.

Life involves entries and exits; handle both well.

Do not manipulate people financially in the name of prophecy. Someone’s previous obedience to bless you must not become the basis for permanent entitlement. God does not need you to put people under bondage to fund His work.

What God assigns, God supplies for.

The Kingdom of God is built on freedom, while the kingdom of the devil is built on bondage.

What God Places in Your Hand Must Multiply

God expects what He places in your hand to produce.

“And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.”
— Matthew 25:20, KJV

Your gifts should multiply. Your skills should develop. Your opportunities should produce results. Your resources should increase in usefulness. Your relationships should become channels of Kingdom collaboration.

Do not envy another person’s portion. Know your own from the Lord. Celebrate what God is doing for others without losing confidence in His provision for you.

Faith is not covetousness. Do not claim another person’s possession simply because you desire it. Let the Holy Spirit show you what God has genuinely ordained for your life.

There is provision for every child of God.

God Is Your Source and Your Backup

The final foundation of financial thriving is understanding the supply system of the King. Kingdom wealth cannot be separated from the King Himself.

Your job is not your source. Your business is not your source. Social media is not your source. Your spouse is not your source. Investors, customers and influential relationships are not your ultimate source.

They may be channels, but God is the Source.

Keep yourself from iniquity. Reject unbelief. Receive knowledge where you have been ignorant, and act upon the truth God has already shown you. Revelation must produce corresponding action.

The darkness in the world’s economy can become the background against which the light of God’s covenant provision shines through His people.

There is no restraint to the Lord. He can save by many or by few. He can connect your skill to the right opportunity, move customers and resources towards you, open giant gates of access and cause what He has placed in your hand to multiply.

Divine provision is your Kingdom advantage.
Divine enlargement is your Kingdom advantage.
Divine increase is your Kingdom advantage.
Divine multiplication is your Kingdom advantage.

Prayer and Declaration

Father, baptise us afresh with the revelation of Yourself. Open the eyes of our understanding and make Your truth a stronghold in our lives.

We receive thriving power—the power to flourish, blossom, increase, advance and fulfil our God-given assignments.

Holy Spirit, become our Advantage in business, careers, negotiations, investments and professional decisions. Show us what You have placed in our hands and teach us how to develop, use and multiply it.

Deliver us from materialism, financial disorder, destructive debt, entitlement, covetousness, laziness and every poverty-producing attitude.

Give us the character that can sustain access, the wisdom to manage resources, the discipline to build lasting wealth and the spiritual sensitivity to recognise divine opportunities and relationships.

We declare that we will not allow giants, price tags, economic conditions or present limitations to become bigger than our revelation of God.

God is our Source, and God is our Backup.

We will thrive financially despite global economic hardships.
